Adaptation of Rin Mikimoto's shōjo manga series premieres in Japan on February 25

The staff of the live-action film adaptation of Rin Mikimoto's shōjo manga series Kyō no Kira-kun (Today's Kira-kun) released two 15-second commercials for the film on Sunday. The videos preview various kissing scenes and feature the film's theme song "Ima Made Kimi ga Naita Bun Torimodosō" (I'll Take Back All the Times You Cried) by Alexandros.

Taishi Nakagawa and Marie Iitoyo will star in the film as Kira and Nino, respectively. Nakagawa starred as Kiyoshi in the live-action Prison School television series, as well as Ryōta Watari in the Your Lie in April live-action film. Iitoyo played Tsuruko in the live-action anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day special and Kira Asō in the live-action Mars television series and film. Both Nakagawa and Iitoyo attended advanced screening events for the film in Nagoya and Osaka on Thursday and Friday, respectively.

Additionally, Shōno Hayama will play Yabe, and Yuna Taira will play Rei. Shigeo Takahashi of the comedy duo Savanna has been cast as the voice of Nino's pet parrot, Sensei. Miura Reiko and Ken Yasuda have also been cast for the film.

The film opens in Japan on February 25. Taisuke Kawamura (live-action Kuragehime) is directing the film.

The story of the manga follows an eccentric girl named Nino who keeps a parrot on her shoulder and a carouser named Kira who passes his days with nonsense. Nino and Kira's houses are next to each other but they have never spoken, until one day Nino finds out Kira's secret and their fates intertwine.

Mikimoto launched the series in Bessatsu Friend in 2011, and ended the series in August 2014. Kodansha published the manga's ninth and final compiled volume in October 2014.

Mikimoto's shōjo manga series Kin Kyori Renai received a live-action film adaptation in October 2014.
