The main character of Masaki Andō's Yatogame-chan Kansatsu Nikki (Yatogame-chan Observation Diary) four-panel manga has been appointed as Nagoya Tourism Cultural Exchange Mission Ambassador. Yatogame-chan will promote the appeal of the city of Nagoya as its ambassador.
The manga centers on the life of Yatogame-chan, a girl who speaks in the blunt Nagoya dialect. Ichihinsha's Monthly Comic Rex magazine serializes the manga, and the first compiled book volume shipped on November 26.
The April issue of Monthly Comic Rex, which shipped on Monday, features comments from Nagoya bookstore employees and the Nagoya tourism office dedicated to improving the appeal of Nagoya.
The Nagoya suburb of Kariya used the Hikari ~Kariya wo Tsunagu Monogatari~ ("Hikari ~A Story Connected with Kariya~") anime short produced by ZEXCS to encourage tourists to visit last year. The anime tells the story of a high school ekiden (long-distance road relay running) club in Kariya and its efforts to prepare for the ward tournament.
