Over a year after its premiere, the Mr. Osomatsu train keeps rolling, with new events, collaborations and collectible goods introduced each month. The January 2017 "Osomatsūshin" ("Osomatsu News"), a newsletter posted each month (on the sixth day, in honor of the six Matsuno brothers) to keep the fanbase up-to-date on the latest developments, announced the Matsunos' latest cross-promotion: Hanamaru Udon, a Japanese restaurant chain that specializes in sanuki udon (a flatter udon noodle originating from Shikoku).

Customers at certain Hanamaru branches will be greeted by the Matsunos in life-size character panel form, dressed in employee uniform and serving steaming bowls of noodle soup. If you buy a bowl of udon during the promotion's time frame, you can receive a "Hanamatsu ticket" with a Matsuno brother on it; it acts as a coupon for three orders of udon or tempura. If you present a receipt with over 1,000 yen on it, you can also get a Mr. Osomatsu placemat, although each branch only has 30 in stock. The promotion lasts from January 20 to 31.

The newsletter also posted news about a Mr. Osomatsu mook (a Japanese publication somewhere in between a magazine and a book) edited by the women's fashion magazine an・an. The mook will include Mr. Osomatsu gravure from character designer Naoyuki Asano, a roundtable discussion with the Matsunos' voice actors, and an included school calendar; the publication date is March 14. Osomatsu-sanpo ("Mr. Osomatsu Stroll"), a mobile game that challenges players to find the missing Matsuno brothers in the real world, is taking preorders. In addition, a year-old collaboration with TV Tokyo's banana mascot, Nanana, will get a new lease on life with crossover acrylic keychains and trading badges.
