A ground-breaking new collaboration, titled the "Miracle Robot Force", was announced to celebrate the 40th anniversaries of four different mecha anime broadcast between 1976 and 1977. The anime production companies Eiken, Wako, and Nippon Animation will cross boundaries to commemorate the shows UFO Senshi Daiapolon, Chogattai Majutsu Robot Ginguiser, Gasshin Sentai Mechander Robo, and Blocker Corps IV: Machine Blaster. The collaboration began on April 3 and is planned to last for around one year.
The first project is a collaboration visual of robots from all four shows drawn in a modern style. It was released on the Miracle Robot Force website and can be viewed below. Future project details will be announced soon.
The animation group janime.com, a subsidiary of Nippon Animation, also released special Chogattai Majutsu Robot Ginguiser stickers, shown below, on the smartphone app LINE.
UFO Senshi Daiapolon, produced by Eiken, is an original work by Tetsu Kariya and Shigeru Tsuchiyama (writing as Ryū Kaidō). Its concept came from Kariya and Tsuchiyama's original manga Ginga Senshi Apolon. UFO Senshi Daiapolon was a very unique work known for its inclusion of American football as a major element of the story.
Chogattai Majutsu Robot Ginguiser was produced by Nippon Animation and is known for being the first work in which highly-acclaimed voice actor Kazuhiko Inoue played a protagonist. Inoue voices Hatake Kakashi in Naruto and Naruto Shippūden, Hatori Soma in Fruits Basket, Cars in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, and Matsuzō Matsuno in Mr. Osomatsu, among many others.
Gasshin Sentai Mechander Robo was produced by Wako and directed by Masami Anno, who also worked on storyboards for Bleach and Nickelodeon's The Legend of Korra.
Blocker Corps IV: Machine Blaster was produced by Nippon Animation and was their first giant robot anime. It was worked on by anime mechanical design legend Kunio Okawara under the alias Yōnosuke Shichishi.
