Ace Attorney Characters Now Available in Monster Hunter Explore

Jab your foes with Phoenix's giant finger

The popular smartphone game Monster Hunter has lots of crossovers with other popular media in Japan. This weekend, it's featuring another crossover, although with a series that's not exactly well known for combat or action: Ace Attorney.

Phoenix Wright (Ryūichi Naruhodō), Maya (Mayoi), Miles Edgeworth (Reiji Mitsurugi), and Franziska von Karma (Mei Karuma) are all available to use in the game. If you have the Karidama (Hunting Jewel), you can switch gear from Phoenix to Maya or Miles to Franziska or vice versa. In this case, the clothes and hair are the "gear."

And how do the attorneys and their assistants fight? Well...

Phoenix and Maya have the Blue Badger (Taiho), the police mascot from Ace Attorney, on a stick. It increases damage from fire attacks by 1.5 and restores physical strength by 100.

Miles and Franziska fight with the Contradiction-Piercing Lance, which looks an awful lot like Phoenix's "OBJECTION!" arm. It doubles damage from water attacks and has more attack power than the Badger.

Phoenix, Maya, and the Blue Badger can be obtained from Equipment Crystals obtained from clearing event quests. They can also be exchanged for event points. Miles, Franziska and the Contradiction-Piercing Lance are rewards for participating in the Meow Expedition (Nyan Kentai).

The Ace Attorney crossover only lasts until midnight on January 31. Monster Hunter XX, which launches on March 18, will have a crossover with Sailor Moon, with Luna as a playable character.
